Photograph Explanation:

Noctilucent Clouds. This image was taken 2 July 2011 while airborne at 33,000 feet. From this position approaching Denver, Colorado (near 39N, 105W) you can easily see some Noctilucent Clouds above the horizon to the north. The city of Denver can be seen illuminating some clouds above it, with the darkness of the Rocky Mountains to the left. On the left horizon are distant thunder clouds which should be the highest clouds in the photo, but are silhouetted in darkness and dwarfed by the higher NLC above, by a factor of 10x. This photo serves as proof that NLC have been seen as far south as Colorado! An incredible sight! Photo: BrianWhittaker (.com) as seen on www.SpaceClouds.info.
